Have you heard about our Meranti timber range?

There is something special about the look and feel of natural wood.

Studies even show that the use of wood in the interior of buildings and homes has clear physiological and psychological benefits that mimic the effect of spending time outside in nature.

The feelings of natural warmth and comfort that wood elicits in people has the effect of lowering blood pressure and heart rates, reducing stress and anxiety, increasing positive social interactions and improving corporate image.

It’s easy to bring such comfort into your own home using Hume Doors & Timber products. Take our Meranti timber products, for example.

Meranti timber is a versatile durable soft to medium density hardwood ideal for internal applications. The timber displays beautiful reddish to golden brown variations depending on its origins and has a moderately coarse and straight grain.

Meranti is a beautiful timber to use as its classical and natural warmth is ideal for decorative purposes. Easy to cut and machine, its quality and strength makes it perfect for interior applications such as mouldings, paneling, joinery or external above ground applications such as window frames, door jambs or entry frames.

Ideal for creating a warm and rustic feel, the inclusion of Meranti fixtures will bring a sense of natural beauty to any home.

HOW TO TREAT MERANTI TIMBER?

Meranti timber veneer does need to be sealed correctly otherwise moisture can be absorbed and cause problems with your products. We recommend treating and protecting Meranti timber on a regular basis using waxes, oils, preservatives, sealers or varnishes.

Before beginning the staining process, you need to fill all nail holes, sand using 100-grit sandpaper progressively working down to finer grits to yield smoother finishes. Then ensure you wipe and clean the veneer before staining and applying subsequent top coats.

Using our Meranti mouldings will give your home the best in quality, strength and workability. Not only does the veneer have a beautiful finish, it is extremely durable. The perfect match to any family home.
