Building a first home is an exciting journey and we always love to see the door choices our customers make.

Meet Kelsi and Chris

We’d like to introduce you to Kelsi and Chris. The couple have just finished their Masterton Homes build, fitted out with a range of Hume Doors.

Kelsi, 25, works in a family TAB agency and Chris, 24, is a linesman/cable joiner. They’ve been together for three years and have a shared love for food, entertaining and travel.

Kelsi has a passion for anything design-related. After building this home, she now plans to study to become an interior designer. Chris is interested in cars, both life-size and remote-control, as well as fishing and golf.

They both grew up in south-west Sydney and were thrilled to have found land in Oran Park, in a friendly neighbourhood and still close to family and friends.

They initially started by looking at pre-existing homes, but just felt like nothing really captured how they wanted their home to look.

“Building a home gave us the ability to start from scratch and choose everything the way we wanted it. From the ceiling height, right down to the skirting boards – and of course, all the doors!” Kelsi said. “It’s been a long process, but so worth it as we are so happy with the way our home has turned out.”

Finding the builder

The young Sydneysiders chose Masterton Homes to build their first house after a lot of research and thought.

“Not only did they have the most appropriate floor plan for us, they had over 55 years of industry experience, which made us feel confident in their ability to deliver the perfect home,” Kelsi continued.

Their floorplan is the Crystal MK4, which is a one storey, four bedroom, two bathroom house with two living rooms and an attached alfresco.

“What we particularly liked about this home was the generous lounge room and sizes of the bedrooms. We also made sure to upgrade higher ceilings and higher doors and cavities. It makes the home feel so much bigger!”

Discovering Hume Doors

Kelsi says that she and Chris feel in love with the Hume Doors range on display in the Masterton Colour selection studio.

“I’m a very decisive person and was so pleased to see that the Hume Doors range had exactly what I wanted. The interior of our home is quite clean with lots of whites and greys, so I knew I wanted to add some interest on the interior doors, while still keeping with the modern style of the home. The HAG12 painted in a mid-gloss white was perfect, and it really complimented our 90cm skirting and architraves.”

All of their interior doors, including cupboards and cavity doors, are from Hume Doors Accent range and are the HAG12. Their front entrance door is from the ‘Savoy range and is the XS24 1200.

“My favourite thing about our doors would have to be the customisation. The sheer size and grand feeling of our entrance door really adds to the home. My partner is 6”4 and I’ve never seen a door make him look like a small person! But the 2400×1200 measurements of the front door does just that!”
